PROJECTS

Ph.D. Thesis

  • Title:  Experimental Investigation and Numerical Modeling of Passive Cooling System for Telecom Shelters in Tropical and Desert Regions

  • Supervisor: Prof. Dr. R. Velraj, Inst. of Energy Studies, Anna University

  • Investigation of a passive cooling system using phase change materials and thermosyphons for base telecom shelters installed in deserts and tropical regions.

  • Modeling of the passive cooling system to predict the thermal behaviour.

  • Investigation of the performance of temperature controlled thermosyphon filled with eco-friendly refrigerants.

  • Economic analysis of the passive cooling system for telecom shelters.

  • Outcome of my research: one of the innovative cooling systems for telecom shelters and that can be extended to commercial and domestic buildings for satisfying one of the criteria for Green Buildings.

M.E. Thesis

  • Title: Heat Transfer in Fluidized Beds

  • Supervisor: Dr. Sunil S.R. Gangolli, Professor, SVCE

  • Joint- Supervisor: Mr. M. Rjavel, Manager (R & D), Industrial Power Products, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Trichy

  • Funded by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Trichy

  • Theoretical and experimental investigations were carried out to study the heat transfer of the tubes immersed in a fluidized bed combustor.

  • Analytical equations for the outside heat transfer coefficient of fluidized bed combustor (FBC) were developed and verified by comparing the predicted values with the experimental work and the data available from several operational FBC boilers of B.H.E.L.

  • Outcome of my research: The equations developed became the basis for improved design of FBC that included the radiation effect significantly

B.E. Project

  • Title : Pollution Monitoring in Thermal Power Station

  • Funded by Mettur Thermal Power Station, Mettur
